It’s been almost five months since we learned that Alice Bakery & Confectionary will be opening in Ambler, five long months of anticipation, but the wait is finally over! Alice will open their doors for business tomorrow, Friday, June 12th at 11am, opening just in time for Ambler’s largest festival of the year.
You are likely familiar with Alice’s product from the Ambler Farmers’ Market, delicious pastries and breads, quiche and cookies. You can expect these artisan treats and a whole lot more at the new bakery in town. Alice will be serving a full lunch menu as well as an expanded selection of baked goods and confections.
The space itself is a work of art with gorgeous custom wood detail throughout, a most unique, signature piece of artwork along with a bit of whimsy from the perfectly apropos pendant lights. I am blown away by how the space came together and when asked about it, owner, Dennis Darr, replied that it was like creating a great recipe, in that he selected the finest, choice ingredients and continued to refine his vision as things came together. The end result is a well balanced, beautiful space. He really knocked it out of the park and I cannot wait to enjoy my first chocolate croissant and cup of La Colombe coffee there this week.
The art installation that you see below, “Fourteen Billion Eyes Waking Up To The Sun”, will be completed this Saturday, during the arts festival, by artist Tim Shumaker. Shumaker created this piece with Alice in mind and features Alice’s signature “abc” logo front and center. While you’re out enjoying the festival, be sure to stop in and not only experience the new Alice Bakery, but take in this exciting live art installation.
